The Tech Garden and Upstate Capital hosted Upstate on the Lake at The Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles for technology startups and investors from around New York state. The event showcased promising entrepreneurs and gave investors a chance to learn more about the innovation happening in one of Central New York’s premier incubators. Oliver Mitchell, a founding partner at Autonomy Ventures and a partner at ff Venture Capital, delivered the keynote address on the state of the robotics and autonomous systems industry, followed by pitches from 10 Tech Garden and GENIUS NY startups, including: 3D Usher, Dropcopter, EagleHawk One, Ionica Sciences, MedUX, Moxi, OmniMesh, PreVision Corp, Sentient Blue Technologies, and Vermeer. Following the pitches, the 50 investors and startups networked during a boat cruise on Skaneateles Lake and investor happy hour sponsored by ff VC.
“It is great to see the interest that investors from all across the state are taking in Central New York and the growing tech companies we have here,” said Jon Parry, director of GENIUS NY. “These startups have all worked very hard to get to the stage they’re at, and the business and investor community is taking notice. Successful events like Upstate on the Lake allow us to provide greater opportunities for our startups and the community at large through increased investment and job creation.” GENIUS NY will host three more investor pitch events this fall in New York City, Boston and Syracuse.
