About The Tech Garden Building ExpansionIn the spring of 2023 CenterState CEO will embark on a 46,000 square-foot expansion of The Tech Garden building at 235 Harrison Street. This renovation will add two additional stories, and create a larger and more modernized space encompassing not only incubation, acceleration and support of tech startups, but also non-tech startups and small businesses run by founders from underrepresented populations.

The Tech Garden Expansion FAQs
When will the building expansion begin, and how long will it last?
The construction on The Tech Garden building is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2023, and is expected to take 14 months to complete, wrapping up in the late fall/winter of 2024.
Will we be able to use The Tech Garden building during construction?
The Tech Garden building at 235 Harrison Street will be closed to the public for the entirety of the construction project. However, for the duration of the construction, The Tech Garden offices, tenants, and programs will be temporarily moved across the plaza to the Equitable Building Tower 1, 8th floor.
What kind of facilities will the The Tech Garden temporary space in the Equitable Building have?
The Tech Garden temporary space on the 8th floor of the Equitable tower will have many of the similar member services and benefits currently offered at our 235 Harrison St. location:
Mimi's Cafe is in the lobby of the building, offering coffee, breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Hours are 7:00am - 4:00pm.
In addition, all members of The Tech Garden will have access to the Fitness Center in the Equitable Building. We will provide members with specific instructions on use of the Fitness Center.
I am a non-tenant member. What will happen to my membership?
All members of The Tech Garden will retain their same membership level (Start-Up Community - Free for one year; Basic Membership - $100/mo.) If you have any questions about your membership, please contact Kate Oja.
How do members access The Tech Garden's location in the Equitable Building?
Every member of The Tech Garden will be issued an access badge with their picture on it for free. Everyone must badge in at the security desk whenever entering the building. The security desk will allow you to take the elevator to the 8th floor. If your badge is lost or damaged, the replacement cost is $25 per badge. Members will have 24/7 access to The Tech Garden in the Equitable Building.
Guests to the building will need to be identified to lobby security in advance.
Will there be free parking at the Equitable Building location?
There will be no free parking available for The Tech Garden use at the Equitable Building. The current parking loop at the 235 Harrison Street location will be closed.
Is there a freight elevator at the Equitable Building location?
Yes there is a freight elevator. Any vendor who needs to use the loading dock for deliveries must reserve it through the office of the Equitable Building. The height restriction to the sub-cellar garage leading to the loading dock is 11' 6" maximum. No deliveries can be brought through the lobby.
I am a current tenant of The Tech Garden. How will I move my office to the Equitable Building?
Currently, moving is scheduled to happen in June 2023. We will be contacting tenants directly regarding timeline and specific dates and details about moving. Please note the following:
If I am a member and don't have an office, will there still be places for me to work in the temporary space?
Yes! We will have a large dedicated co-working space with desks, outlets, wifi, couches, chairs, and tables.
I use The Tech Garden address at 235 Harrison Street to receive and send mail and packages. What happens during its temporary closure?

- The Tech Garden will move any furniture & fixtures in your office that are owned by The Tech Garden.
- You will be responsible for moving your own items.
- There will be a short period of time that there will be neither access to The Tech Garden building at 235 Harrison Street, nor access to the 8th floor of the Equitable Building. You will be required to work remotely during that time.
- Tenants should remove and keep with them any belongings they will need access to during the remote work period (computers, paper documents, tools, etc.)
- Any tenant items left at 235 Harrison Street during the remote work period will be moved to the new space and be inaccessible until tenant access is opened at the Equitable Building.
If I am a member and don't have an office, will there still be places for me to work in the temporary space?
Yes! We will have a large dedicated co-working space with desks, outlets, wifi, couches, chairs, and tables.
I use The Tech Garden address at 235 Harrison Street to receive and send mail and packages. What happens during its temporary closure?
- Incoming U.S. Postal Service mail should continue to be addressed to Your Company Name; The Tech Garden at 235 Harrison Street, Mail drop#_____, Syracuse NY 13202, and will be physically forwarded each day to our location at the Equitable Building 8th floor.
- Incoming Courier packages (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) should be addressed to Your Company Name; 100 Madison Street, Suite 800, Syracuse NY 13202.
- For outbound mail and packages, there is a FedEx and UPS box in the lobby of the Equitable Building Tower 1 across from the Guards Desk near the freight elevator. There is also a USPS mail slot in the lobby of Tower 1.
