 TESTIMONY Offered by Marc Alessi, Executive Director of BIANYS - November 2017
BIANYS is a not for profit membership driven association comprised of over 80 Business Incubators from across New York State. Our membership is made up of both university affiliated incubators, and independent, private sector incubators. It is in the interest of New York State to support Start-ups and the job creation that results from these young companies. As a former member of your body, this was my main area of policy interest. I had worked with a number of my former colleagues including the Chairman of this commit tee to hold hearings around the state as the former Chair of the Sub Committee on the Emerging Workforce to find out how best to position this state for job creation.  What a year it has been for the first round of GENIUS NY finalists. They were welcomed to Central New York back in January to start the year-long accelerator focused on unmanned aerial systems (UAS). They are now closing in on graduation as GENIUS NY 2.0 will soon select six more UAS teams for next year's program.
