The Tech Garden recently awarded funding to five startups through its new Fund of Funds program. Access to funding continues to be a challenge in an interior innovation hub for startups especially in Central New York. In the current economic climate, investors can be additionally risk averse. The Tech Garden sees this as an opportunity to create a streamlined program sourced from multiple pools of funding managed by CenterState CEO and The Tech Garden. This incremental support provides the fledging company initial funding on the path to commercialization and offers an opportunity for follow-on investment with less risk. Past funding programs at The Tech Garden included Grants for Growth, Startup Labs and the Germinator accelerator. Akrobotix has designed a new software for detecting masks. The plug and play device is loaded with an AI engine that can distinguish between humans with/without a mask on their face and gently alerts the passing by human to wear a mask, if they aren't covering their face. This system doesn't collect any image data of the passing by humans and works standalone in a small form factor of a standard 52-card deck. Additionally, this system can count people entering/exiting the building and provides the occupancy numbers.

TruWeather Solutions recently hired two meteorologists who graduated from SUNY Oswego this past spring. The 2018 GENIUS NY finalist now has 11 working out of The Tech Garden. TruWeather Solutions is a weather risk management and analytics company that has a proven framework for reducing weather’s impact on businesses to preserve people, property and profits.
The Tech Garden recently welcomed three new startup members that now have access to business resources, mentors, funding opportunities and events.
