The Syracuse Student Sandbox is a unique business incubator that gives aspiring student entrepreneurs the resources to make their visions a reality. The objective of the Sandbox is to accelerate the process of ideation, development and deployment through mentoring and coaching. Syracuse Startup Weekend
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 700 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2013.
All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. Learn more »
Grants for Growth
Since the Grants for Growth program was launched in 2006, CenterState CEO has made 40 awards which have directly leveraged more than $5M in private sector and university matching support. Projects that have received GFG awards have successfully secured an additional $40M. As importantly, the program has directly led to the creation of over 100 jobs throughout the region based on $2M in GFG funding disbursed to date. This represents a return on investment of one job for every $14,000 dollars of GFG funding—a very good ratio that exceeds that of many State economic development programs.
